QUIROZ, Ana Isabel y MULAS, Rafael. NPK accumulation in plant tissue and use efficiency for intercropping production system of wheat (Triticum aestivum) and pea (Pisum sativum) . Bioagro [online]. 2005, vol.17, n.2, pp.99-108. ISSN 1316-3361.
In Cubiro, Lara State, Venezuela, an experiment was conducted to evaluate the use efficiency of N, P and K) in plants of wheat and pea in monocrop and intercropping. A random block design with four repetitions. The absorption efficiency and conversion were calculated in absolute terms for the maturation stage. Intercrop with cereal did not affect the pea yield. However, statistics differences were found in the cereal yield. It was found a higger absorption of N, P and K in wheat and pea monocrops, in comparison to intercropping. In pea, the efficiency of absolute conversion had tendencies opposed to the absorption, since the values for the pea intercrop were superior to monocrop. The land equivalent ratio (LER) for each element that was calculated based on the efficiencies of absorption and conversion of N, P and K, indicated advantages of intercropping over monocrop in two combinations; in each combination, both plants interacted in the same proportion.
