GRUBER, Lisette; BLANCO, Divia y ROJO, Eugenio. Hydraulic performance of two types of artisan emitters for low pressure drip irrigation. Bioagro [online]. 2007, vol.19, n.2, pp.79-83. ISSN 1316-3361.
ABSTRACT The irrigation system by artisan dripping is based on the elaboration of the emitters by the own farmer, and the use of low elevation heads to replace the utilization of water pumps. Being a non-conventional irrigation system, there are no sufficient technical elements to endorse it. A test was made to determine the uniformity coefficient (UC) of the emitters for different pressures, the coefficient of variation of manufacture (CV), the equation of flow rate vs. pressure head, and the dripper circulation regime. One type of emitter (EA) was made with flat pipes of "wicker" and the other type (EB) with the pipes commonly used in micro-sprinkler systems. It was found that both emitters had turbulent flow regime. As an average, emitters EA showed 88.0 % UC and 0.16 CV while emitters EB showed 90.9 % and 0.12 CV, respectively, being the differences statistically significant (P≤0.01). It was concluded that emitters EB have better performance than emitters EA
