Resumen
SALAS, Jorge. Capture capacity of Neoleucinodes elegantalis (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) in two types of traps lured with its sex pheromone. Bioagro [online]. 2008, vol.20, n.2, pp.135-139. ISSN 1316-3361.
Attraction of males of tomato fruit borer Neoleucinodes elegantalis (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) by its synthetic sex pheromone was evaluated using two types of trap (water pan and Delta traps) in commercial and experimental plantings of tomato and bell pepper located at El Jebe y Cerro Pelón, in Quibor, Lara State, Venezuela, during two years. The highest number of insects attracted by the pheromone varied between 5.25 and 8.16 adults per trap per night in the commercial tomato plantings in El Jebe during 2001 and 2002, without statistical differences among captures (P>0.05). When comparing the captures capacity of the two types of traps, no significant differences were found. As a conclusion, water pan traps and Delta traps lured with the synthetic sex pheromone of N. elegantalis were effective on the capture of adult males of this species, although no differences existed between the traps.
