MEZA, Norkys; HERRERA, Janeth  y  GUDINO, Samir. Performance of promising potato clones (Solanum tuberosum L.) in Trujillo State, Venezuela. Bioagro [online]. 2009, vol.21, n.2, pp.149-152. ISSN 1316-3361.

Four promising potato clones, along with the commercial variety Granola, were evaluated in Cuencas, Urdaneta Municipality, Trujillo State, at 1627 meter altitude, temperatures averaging 20 °C and mean relative humidity of 70 %. Variables such as emergency percentage, plant height, leaf and leaflet size, number of stems per plant, stem diameter, number of tubers per plant, tuber weight, and yield were evaluated, besides flower and foliage color, strength and consistency of the stem. At harvest, tuber type and skin color, tuber size and shape, and depth of eyes were evaluated. The clones LT8-TPS-113 and 392639-1 showed the highest emergency percentage, being greater than the control Granola. The plant height and the number of stems were significantly higher in clones LT8-TPS-113 and 393194-37. There were significant differences in the size of leaves and leaflets for all materials tested. All the clones showed white colored flowers, and Granola did not flower. The clones had a growth cycle of 120 days, higher than the Granola which took 90 days after planting. The highest yield was found in clones 393194-1 and 393194-37 which proved to be superior to the control.
