MENDOZA, Julio César; GRUBER, Lisette; TORREALBA, Celinda e LUGO, José G. Design, construction, and evaluation of an automated mechanism for micro sprinkler irrigation. Bioagro [online]. 2010, vol.22, n.3, pp.235-238. ISSN 1316-3361.
The automation of irrigation systems in nurseries allows a good water management, reduces the use of labor, avoids human error and ensures greater efficiency. The objective of this study was to design, construct and evaluate an automated front displacement micro sprinkler irrigation system for operations in crops under protected environments. The coefficient of uniformity irrigation (CU) was tested using a factorial experiment 2 x 3 x 2, considering two operating pressures (0.11 and 0.15 MPa), movement three speeds (0.32, 0.36 and 0.44 ms-1) and two types of sprinklers. It was found that the mechanical components and automated systems were adequate with regard to movement and execution of scheduled routines. The CU in both sprayers was higher with increasing pressure, but the effect was greater in the emitter with larger flow rate capacity. The movement speed did not affect the CU.
