BASTIDAS, Luis et al. Analysis of agronomic variables in sugarcane cultivars with purposes sugar, forage and jaggery. Bioagro [online]. 2012, vol.24, n.2, pp.135-142. ISSN 1316-3361.
Little is known about the agronomic performance of sugarcane (Saccharum spp. hybrid) with multipurpose in Venezuela. In this research five cultivars (B80-549, CR74-250, V71-39, B80-408 and PR 61-632) were evaluated for two years (plant cane and first ratoon) in Santa Cruz de Bucaral, Falcon State. Analyses of principal components were applied at the following agronomic variables: Number of stalk per lineal meter (NTMS), plant height (AP), stalk diameter (DT), tonnage of green matter per hectare (TMVH), raw protein content (PC), ash (CEN), calcium (Ca) and phosphorus (P), relative feed value (VRF), leaf/stalk relationship (H:T), total soluble solids (BRIX), maturation index (IM), tons of cane per hectare (TCH), tons of sugar per hectare (TPH) and tons of panela per hectare (TPAH). The results showed that reorganization exists in the agronomic and productive behavior of the cultivars with the age and the crop cycle, establishing a general difference between two groups of the studied cultivars. The first group represents the most productive plants in green matter, cane yield, sugar and panela, comprising cultivars B80-549, CR74-250 and PR61-632, and a second group consisting of V71-39 and B80-408, which are related mainly to the number of stems, percentage of total solids in the juice, and relative feed value.
