ULACIO-OSORIO, Dilcia; JIMENEZ-TAMAYO, María  e  PERDOMO, Wilfredo. Spatio-temporal dynamics from white rot disease-garlic pathosystem at Carache, Trujillo, Venezuela. Bioagro [online]. 2012, vol.24, n.3, pp.205-212. ISSN 1316-3361.

The distribution knowledge of the garlic white rot disease in the field is important to get precise measurement to design strategies of control. The objective of the investigation was to evaluate the spatial and temporal distribution of garlic white rot disease induced for Sclerotium cepivorum in a farm in Carache, Trujillo State, for two crop cycles. The experimental area was divided in four 12 m2 sub-plots, and these in twelve 1 m2 quadrants. Disease incidence was registered periodically since the first symptom was evident. Spatial distribution of garlic white rot was analyzed by mapping and index of aggregation (the variance/mean ratio, Lloyd´s index, and k parameter). Temporal distribution of the disease was analyzed by developing the disease progress curves. The distance between plants and its relation with disease incidence were considered in both crop cycles. Spatial distribution of white rot resulted in aggregated. An inverse relationship was detected between plant distance and white rot incidence, though disease progress resulted policyclic in both cycles. It is concluded that spatio-temporal evaluation permitted to know the distribution of the garlic white rot, with zones of greater and minor inoculum concentration in the field, as well as infection cycles of the pathogen during crop growth.
