PINEDA, Adriana; VARGAS, Teresa Edith  e  GARCIA DE GARCIA, Eva. Regeneration of Ananas comosus, ecotype Tabë Känä, by indirect organogenesis. Bioagro [online]. 2014, vol.26, n.3, pp.135-142. ISSN 1316-3361.

Pineapple (Ananas comosus) is an agricultural species with high economic importance in Venezuela. The ecotype Tabë Känä represents one of the main sources of agricultural activity of the aboriginal Piaroa, in the Venezuelan Amazon. In this investigation, an in vitro regeneration system via organogenesis was established to multiply this interesting ecotype from leaf base sections of vitroplants. Three culture media consisting of Murashige and Skoog salts (MS) were used: a) medium without growth substances (MS1), b) medium with 5 mg·L-1 ANA and 0.25 mg·L-1 BA (MS2), and c) medium with 2.5 mg·L-1 2,4-D (MS3). All media were supplemented with thiamine, myo-inositol and sucrose. In MS2 and MS3, calli was formed in four weeks. After three months of culture, the calli showed evidence of organ development, being the MS2 the most efficient treatment for induction of organogenesis, with an average of 5.54 roots and 4.98 shoots per explant, after seven months. At this time, an average of 1.4 roots and 1.78 shoots per explant was obtained in MS3. After three months of acclimation, survival of 95 % was achieved in plants that were transferred to soil.
