The effect of foliar fertilization with liquid humus (HL) of Californian red worm was evaluated during mulberry plant nursery, using plants from cuttings, planted in polythene bags and separated by equivalent concentrations of the treatments 0 , 10, 25 and 50 % HL, foliar sprayed every 7 or 15 days (5 or 3 sprays during the trial, respectively). Applications started 15 days after cutting sprout, and the trial was conducted as a 4x2 factorial experiment with 10 repetitions (80 plants). At day 60, the total dry leaves (HT) and leaves per branch (HR), the fresh weight (PFH), dry weight (PSH) and dry matter (MSH) of leaves, the length (LR) and diameter (DR) of branches, and the fresh weight (PFR ), dry weight (PSR) and dry matter of roots (MSR) were evaluated per plant. The data were processed using principal component analysis, and it was found that the PFH, PSH, LR, PFR and PSR efficiently responded to fertilization grouped at CP1 (0.42), while DR, MSH and MSR were dissociated from the rest of variables and conformed the CP2 (0.26). An analysis of variance and mean separation by Fisher LSD was applied, resulting that the concentration of 50 % HL increased significantly the PFH (39.9 g), PSH (9 g) and LR (37.2 cm), while the applications every 7 days increased the PFR (7.8 g) and PSR (1.1 g). It is concluded that the liquid humus acts as a growth promoter during mulberry plant nursery, thus favoring the plant adaptation and production performance when transplanted to the field.
