Resumen

HERNANDEZ, Carmen. Lo femenino en el arte: una forma de conocimiento. Revista Venezolana de Estudios de la Mujer [online]. 2006, vol.11, n.27, pp.045-058. ISSN 1316-3701.

Female, in classical or conventional terms, has deserved a chief place in art, either as form or theme, that is to say, female under a passive meaning, as a contemplative element and just a stimulus for the male universe. But since the 70’s of 20th century, female has assumed a conscious position, both in artistic production and in the theoretic field. This fact is put together with vindicatory social struggles, related also to activism for civil rights and equity in job. Feminism has brought out a «watchful sight» which has contributed to raise a new interpretation on reality, even art. Thus a difference has appearedbetween female aesthetics and feminist aesthetics. Feminist art has contributed then to recover outer, peripheral expressive forms, likewise has seen about the lack of neutrality of language and art, ethnics, sexuality and social class.

Palabras clave : Feminist art; Female in art; Female aesthetics; Feminist aesthetics.
