Resumen
VARGAS ARENAS, Iraida. Algunas ideas sobre los Consejos Comunales y la Calidad de Vida de las mujeres populares en Venezuela. Revista Venezolana de Estudios de la Mujer [online]. 2007, vol.12, n.29, pp.33-48. ISSN 1316-3701.
Life quality has been a subject widely popular in scientific research, political speeches, public policies, etc., as well as analyzed by ecologists, urbanists, economists, physicians, etc. Although many of such studies consider there is a dichotomy between objective and subjective approaches, the concept life quality might be better considered as a multidimensional one referring to the subjective perception individual and communities have about certain conditions, as well as to objective conditions too. This paper intends to demonstrate how it is possible to understand, from a symbolic cultural historic approach, on what bases to deal with the demands posed by the Venezuelan popular women belonging to the organizational forms known as communal councils.
Palabras clave : Quality of life; gender representations; symbolism; popular power.
