JIRON M, Paola. Implicancias de género en las experiencias de movilidad cotidiana urbana en Santiago de Chile. Revista Venezolana de Estudios de la Mujer [online]. 2007, vol.12, n.29, pp.173-197. ISSN 1316-3701.
One of the most influential quotidian experiences acting upon urban life quality is the daily mobility. Likewise, nonmobility, or restricted mobility can be one of the most expressive factors about the inequalities lived in our cities. Namely, mobility is relevant for urban life quality, on one hand, dealing with the access to different spaces in the city; on the other hand, in regard to how, when, with whom this mobility is done or not. Yet, the experience of mobility is not homogeneous, thourgh urban experiences are lived in a differentiated mood by men and women, and amongst women too. Usin an ethonographic approach on daily routines, in this paper is described the manner in which differentiated experiences on urban quotidian mobility can produce gender inequality in Santiago de Chile.
