Resumen
ESCALANTE, Nancy. Concepto histórico del cuerpo femenino dentro de los cacicazgos de Valencia. Revista Venezolana de Estudios de la Mujer [online]. 2008, vol.13, n.30, pp.155-176. ISSN 1316-3701.
This research attempts to develop an analysis of the historical characteristics in which the feminine figurines on the Valencia Cultural Tradition (1000-1500 years B.P.) were produced as central elements of their iconography, from the use of the fundamental categories of maintenance production and reproduction. It tries to relate some notions on the female body representations (observed from the Museo de Ciencias collection) and certain means of control over reproduction probably imposed by the chiefdom dominant groups, through which they naturalize conceptions of women and femininity, making it common sense knowledge to reinforce asymmetrical relationships between men and women.
Palabras clave : chiefdoms; female body representations; anthropology; human and symbolical reproduction.
