Resumen

ZERPA, Isabel. ISSN 1316-3701.

The words I shall present now make full sense whereas I identify myself with the experiences and personalities of the novel Solitaria Solidaria (1999), written by Laura antillano. Reading it has let me to set a very special communication with Zulay Montero and Leonora Armundeloy, with whom I felt quite close, both as a woman and as a university professor. Reading this novel has allowed me a space to develop an introspective process which is able to connect me to the questions I put myself sometimes, as a university professor, about the meaning of teaching and its scope nowadays. Similar questions are put by Zulay Montero -late 20th century-, through an intimate story, wherein her reflections and self-absorptions are presented, as well as the dialogues she maintains with her fellows, men and women, with whom she shares human, social, political and educational concerns. The novel analysis discerns from the comments set around the search performed by main female characters of the text, depicting quotations from Leonora Armundeloy’s diaries and letters, and Zulay Montero’s descriptions, dialogues and reflections. A general analysis is made on characters’ life, focusing upon the loneliness and the respective meaning attributed during the respective historic moments lived by both women. It is also studied the special contribution of the novel concerning the experience given by university teaching and woman participation.

Palabras clave : Loneliness; Literature and life; University teaching; Intra-history.
