The central theme of the article is the obstetric violence as a phenomenon linked to genderbased violence. To develop the basic idea, it is necessary to fix some concepts that theoretically sustain ideas expressed as follows, such as patriarchy, violence against women and sexual and reproductive rights. These concepts are analyzed around the legal framework governing the Organic Law for the Right of Women to a Life Free of Violence, which states that obstetric violence is closely related to violations of his primary human rights stated on this work.
