NAVARRETE, Rodrigo. Excavando mujeres en y desde el sur: Aproximaciones a la arqueología feminista en latinoamérica. Revista Venezolana de Estudios de la Mujer [online]. 2010, vol.15, n.34, pp.75-104. ISSN 1316-3701.

Archaeology, despite focus on the past of societies is not free to explore the topic of women. By becoming aware of androcentric areas in speech and in archaeological practices, feminist archeology was able to reconfigure the profile of the discipline and even to redirect it. Innovative theoretical, methodological and interpretative proposals were generated to rescue sexual diversity in the past, and they influenced later the formation of an archeology of gender. This work, then will analyze the conformation of this powerful framework of analysis and advocacy from archeology and try to explore its possibilities and limitations in Latin American and Venezuelan settings. The explicit recognition of gender feminist approach is new in the context of Latin America, particularly Argentina and Mexico, as also Venezuela.

Palavras-chave : Archaeology; women; historiography.
