Abstract

HEROLD GARCIA, Silena; MARTINEZ BERMELLO, Aylín  and  ARTIGAS FUENTES, Fernando. Calculation system of the temperature distribution in resistive magnets. uct [online]. 2005, vol.9, n.34, pp.91-95. ISSN 1316-4821.

Image Magnetic Resonance is the technique used in Cuban tomography fabricated with resistive magnets to produce clinical images. When they are being operated, these magnets are subject to a progressive heating process and require a cooling system. To know the distribution of the temperature in these pieces of equipment allows to evaluate the quality of their cooling system and gather information on the parameters to which the materials are submitted. A tool is introduced to calculate the distribution of temperature inside the resistive magnet of the Cuban tomography Giroimag03, applying techniques of finite differences. The general structure of the equipment coil and the partitioning applied to make the calculation, are described. The various software modules and the responsibility that each one has, are shown. The result is a software that allows to know the distribution of the spatial and temporal temperature inside the magnet. The validation of the results achieved with the first version of the system on the basis of the experimental data collected from the device in operation, is shown.

Keywords : Cooling System; Finite differences; Resistive Magnets; RMI; Temperature distribution.
