ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION PROGRAM FOR MANAGAMENT OF MEDICAL WASTES   Abstract: Environmental problems created by medical wastes and final disposition are important assesment subjects. Safe management of medical wastes requires diligence and care of people involved for improve their work´s environment and diminished of risks. This assesment proposes Environmental Education Program, to be applied in any hospital, to improve the internal management of medical wastes. Methodology involved five steps: 1) Environmental reality evaluation; 2) Target identification, 3) Message identification; 4) Activities and educative strategies selection and, 5) Evaluation of program. At the moment, the health centers show diverse problems in each stage of management, including from the lack of segregation in the points of origen to the deficiency of sites of final storage. The groups were identified according to the management stages in which they take part, that is to say: 1) medicals and nurses; 2) waiters and 3) workers. Later, the design of Environmental Education Program was divided in four Subprograms directed to each one of the target groups identified. The designed program consists of different activities and strategies that allow the workers of the health centers to management suitably the generated wastes and to diminish significantly the risks associate.
