The following research developed a proposal for the automation of the drinking water treatment plant of C.V.G. GOSH at Toro Muerto which allows to increase the efficiency in the production of the plant and thus offer a better and most optimum service to the community of Ciudad Guayana. The results of the research show the selection of PLC equipment for the implementation of the control system, as well as the optical-fiber cable connected to a star-type topology for the communication of the devices. It also proposes a SCADA developed in Delphi as a first step of a system based on Free Software developed by the University. The research was carried out through a documentary and field type study supported by the consultation of manuals, books, Internet documents, and conducted at the plant, having to take measures and samples to become familiar with the operation of a drinking water treatment plant and be in a position to compare it with a typical treatment plant.
