Abstract

GUEDEZ FERNANDEZ, Carmen  and  MEJIAS ACOSTA, Agustín. Factors determining the institutional image of a graduate studies in Venezuela. uct [online]. 2010, vol.14, n.57, pp.231-238. ISSN 1316-4821.

The determination of the institutional image has had in the last years a further rise in the educational sector as an aspect able to add or to subtract value to the activities that are carry out by institutions. The general objective of this research is to identify the key factors of the internal image of the Graduate school of the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences of the University of Carabobo from the teaching staff's perspective. To achieve this purpose a survey was designed based on the IMAGEFACES scale. This scale is considered reliable to measure the institutional image of the Graduate school given the value of the index of internal consistency. This scale presents content validity based on the revision of literature consulted and the opinion of experts; approach validity and concept validity given the results of the statistical tests (significant to 1%). By factor analysis, it was evident that the image perceived by graduate teachers may be sized in four factors: academic quality, environmental aspects, quality and sustainability and relevance university, which brings together eighteen (18) scale variables, representing 71.196% of the total variance.

Keywords : Institutional Image; Graduate School; Teaching Staff; Factor Analysis.
