Photovoltaic systems design for regions far from the AC grid commonly is carried out through the sizing with an objective function to decrease the cost and a minimum percentage of system failures. The sizing looks for the fixing of panels and batteries quantities and the proper technological equipments for energy reception and storage. Due to the decrease of the panels market price, the need for considering the compensation of panels and batteries in the photovoltaic systems sizing emerges. The costs of both of the components into the photovoltaic systems should be kept in mind, too. This work shows the flexibility to be taken account for sizing stand - alone photovoltaic systems, evaluating possibilities to compensate the panels quantity with the batteries number or vice versa, and the influence that the price of these equipments has in the compensation range, in order to maintain the same level of energy quality delivered to the system and the condition of smaller energy cost; for showing that, the procedure is illustrated by means of an example of an stand alone housing electrification.
