The system of passengers' public urban transport constitutes an element that forms a part of the economic and social development of any city. Inside the components of this system, one of the most important are the units, since they are vehicles with which the transport see service. In the municipality of Maracaibo, they are called cars for position, the principal modality used to give the service, being a way of transport that one finds in disuse in almost the whole country and the entire world. The object of this investigation is to identify the incidence of their use in the service of public transport. For this, it was realized a descriptive investigation with a transactional and contemporary field design with one variable, and documentary arching, the not structured interview and the direct observation as techniques of compilation of information. The results that this investigation threw are a series of disadvantages that come from the utilization of these modality to give the service and that are related to problems in the operation of the service, urban space and environmental pollution.
