Abstract
AGUILERA F, Ana I and GARCIA M, Luis D. RT-Postgresql: Postgresql extension to data management with temporal freq. uct [online]. 2011, vol.15, n.60, pp.130-143. ISSN 2542-3401.
Nowadays, the most of Database Management Systems (DBMS) are principally based on the relational paradigm and the Structured Query Language (SQL) for data storage and management purposes. In this way, such systems do not allow querying data according to the temporal database paradigm, and even less, on those data in which temporality is based on a previously defined frequency. TSQL2 language is a SQL2 extension that allows data management based on temporality in correct form. The aim of this paper is the implementation of TSQL2 into the PostgreSQL DBMS core using a Strongly Coupled Architecture and also its functional evaluation. In this extension, it has been proposed a mechanism of data compression and its evaluation. As well, adequate methods have been developed to establish the frequencies on the valid time of data and optimizing the way in which those times must be manipulated.
