Abstract

LIMA PEREZ, Liliana; VASQUEZ, Carmen; LUNA CARDOZO, Marisabel  and  POLETTO, Juan. Strategic indicators to increase the performance of the inspections for the operators of the Venezuelan power supply service. uct [online]. 2011, vol.15, n.61, pp.187-195. ISSN 1316-4821.

The electrical losses in utilities companies has relevant magnitude. Venezuela cannot evade this problem and the electrical utilities companies need to implement alternative plans that will diminish such losses and that will additionally guarantee their financial sustainability, especially those losses due to fraud or illegal tampering of the measurement instruments by the customers. The purpose of this paper is to define strategic indicators for the Internal Processes of the Balanced Scorecard related to the losses of power. Therefore the programming of inspections of supplies is structured into the strategic plan by identifying the strengths, opportunities weaknesses and threats of the company after a thorough analysis of the current situation of the power supply sector in Venezuela. The strategic planning of some power companies of Latin America as well as that of the local power supply company is analyzed, a SWOT matrix is construed and a BSC is designed displaying the objectives, indicators, strategic actions, rates and goals that may lead to the achievement of the strategic objective. Finally we suggest the use of a fuzzy expert system to schedule inspections of supplies.
