Abstract
GONZALEZ, Winder; ALLER, José M; LASZLO, Sajó-B and HORVART, Julio W. Design and construction of coils for Electromagnetic induction heating. uct [online]. 2013, vol.17, n.66, pp.28-37. ISSN 1316-4821.
The design and construction of coils for heating by means of induction furnace is an important topic for the metallurgic industry, because this area of study finds its main application in the metal processing industry. Among the advantages of heat production by the induction are the insulation between the heat source and work piece, the speed in the production of heat and high efficiency in the process. In a sense, coil design for induction heating is built upon a large store of empirical data whose development springs from several simple inductor geometries such as the solenoid coil. Because of this, coil design is generally based on experience. This paper describes, step by step the design, construction and test process of an induction coil, designed in order to produce small volumes of cast titanium in an inert atmosphere or vacuum.
