PEREZ RAVE, Jorge Iván. Systematic literature review in Engineering as a support for Research-based Consultancy. uct [online]. 2013, vol.17, n.66, pp.38-48. ISSN 1316-4821.
The objective of this paper is to provide reflections about the importance of research-based consultancy mission, its boundaries and facilitators, and about how much service consultants who have in mind the "research" term, really consider the respective skill development and a progressive researching attitude. Reviewing the literature it can be found that the modern consultancy requires not just the transference of knowledge for practice-problems solving, but mainly the creation, the change, actualization and evolution of the actual and future thinking, which cant be done without taking in consideration the scientific research. It is found that, in publicity strategies as well as the scientific production, there are growing efforts led to gathering research activities on the big consultancy firms. This produces that the small firms and independent consultants remain with competitive disadvantages. Furthermore, the incorporation of research in the consultancy mission is a complex task, which has to consider the boundaries to overcome in the researchers formation. This article converges in a motivation for the research-based consultancy, departing from the systematic literature review, being accessible for the big firms as well as the small ones, and for the independent consultants.
