Resumo

A design of a billet tracking system in the load and reheating sections of the bar lamination mill at Siderúrgica del Orinoco “Alfredo Maneiro” is shown. The system design not only required gathering information about the sensors, actuators and the operation of the process, but it also required verifying its conditions and current functions. The tracking system involves the transfer of information from each billet according to the events occurring within the process, through a data structure representing the billets inside the furnace and a combinational logic model for the roller conveyors in the loading area. The tracking system was developed using the Schneider Electric Concept® software and simulations of the signals and events generated in the loading phase, reheating and the unloading of the billets to validate the performance of the proposed application were performed. As a result, the tracking system was succesfully designed, including a proposal for a new sensors installation to get the horizontal position of the billet extractor.
