Abstract
GUZMAN, Víctor. A maximum power point tracking program based on the analytical solution of the solar cell circuital model using the Lambert-W function. uct [online]. 2015, vol.19, n.75, pp.61-74. ISSN 1316-4821.
This work presents the development of the LAMP (Lambert Analytic Maximum Power Point) program, that calculates the maximum power point of a solar cells array solving the analytical equation of the solar cell circuital model for the voltage related to the maximum power, using the Lambert-W function. LAMP includes a method to calculate the solar cells array parameters and an algorithm to calculate the solar cells array characteristic curve with less that 1% error. LAMP runs on a low cost microcontroller, implementing an inexpensive and precise maximum power point tracking (MPPT) system, which can be used in small installations and in remote locations not served by the main supply. The program results were compared with experimental measurements, showing a 1% error margin.
