This article presents a conceptual model for resource management in companies providing road freight transport companies services in Colombia, this model includes the relations between actors, business activities and the variables involved in the transport process. For the model construction, initially, the variables used in existing transport models for supply chain management were identified, the relationships between these variables and components were analyzed and the key activities within the decisional areas of road freight transport companies were identified. The conceptual model, which was validated by a group of experts from the transport and academic sectors is subsequently formulated. Finally, a set of indicators to monitor and improve performance in the freight companies are proposed.
