Abstract

ALEJANDRO FRANCO, Ana Isabel et al. Social self-awareness training program to improve teacher performance. uct [online]. 2024, vol.28, n.124, pp.48-58.  Epub Jan 27, 2025. ISSN 2542-3401.  https://doi.org/10.47460/uct.v28i124.843.

This work addresses teaching performance from the perspective of social commitment. A sample of 42 academics, equally divided into a control group and an experimental group, was analyzed. The effect of a program designed to reinforce teaching behavior and performance on professional ethics and social self- awareness was evaluated. The main results show that the program is effective and significant in improving the social self-awareness, ethical, and humanistic aspects of the teaching staff, leading to the strengthening and consolidation of the profession in the classroom. These findings reveal the need for continuous updates not only in academic terms but also in the social self-awareness of academics and their role in a changing and challenging society.

Keywords : social commitment; professional ethics; school coexistence; self-awareness.
