This article examines the current state of disability qualification in Ecuador, highlighting the shortcomings of the process and its impact on individuals with disabilities. Utilizing a qualitative phenomenological approach, it explores the perceptions and experiences of users and officials. Disability qualification is crucial for accessing legal benefits, yet the complexity and sluggishness of the process deter many users. The findings reveal that these deficiencies adversely affect the quality of life for people with disabilities and that inadequate training and resources for officials exacerbate the inefficiency. To improve the experience of the citizens, this article proposes a more effective model designed to develop strategies that ensure more humane, efficient, and accessible care for this vulnerable population.
