The taxonomic composition, relative abundance, richness, diversity, and equity of the epilithic diatoms present in the springs of the southeastern basin of Arequipa were determined, using ecological indices. The diatom biological index (DBI) was estimated, providing information on freshwater bodies’ quality. The correlation between the important environmental variables and the calculated indices is established.
