The study aimed to determine the level of achievement of French reading comprehension through the application of the Before, During, and After (Avant-Pendant-Après, APA) strategy, considering its effects on the literal, inferential, and critical dimensions. A quantitative approach was adopted with a pre-experimental pretest and posttest design, applying a previously validated objective test of reading comprehension to a group of higher education students. Data analysis was carried out using the paired-samples Student’s t-test. The results showed a positive and statistically significant improvement in overall reading comprehension, as well as in each of its dimensions. These findings confirm that this strategy can be considered an effective and relevant pedagogical tool to strengthen foreign-language reading comprehension in higher education contexts.
