Influence of Temperature and Coverage of Pistia stratiotes on the Oxidation-Reduction Potential of Domestic Wastewater. uct [online]. 2026, vol.30, n.130, pp.125-135. Epub 01-Abr-2026. The objective of this research was to evaluate the influence of temperature and Pistia stratiotes coverage on the oxidation-reduction potential (ORP) of domestic wastewater collected from the collector of a wastewater treatment plant. The phytoremediation system consisted of several treatments and their respective replicates. These included increasing levels of Pistia stratiotes biomass, ranging from a partial sample to the total plant component, in addition to a control group composed of wastewater only. After a prolonged period, the validation of the hypothesis confirmed that the increase in biomass produced favorable effects on the ORP, shifting it from the reducing phase to the oxidizing phase. It was concluded that temperature and Pistia stratiotes coverage positively influence the redox potential of domestic wastewater.
