DE LEON MENDOZA, Teresa; RODRIGUEZ MARTINEZ, Rafael; ORTEGA CORTES, Verónica y GONZALEZ CIFUENTES, Indira. Vocational orientation and technical career pre-election criteria’s modification in CBTA N.1 mid-superior level students in the north of Mexico. Educere [online]. 2006, vol.10, n.32, pp.71-76. ISSN 1316-4910.
When evaluating the effect of the Vocational Orientation Program applied to new students at the Agricultural and Livestock Technological High School Center N1 in the North of Mexico, a program focused on the cognitive -perceptive processes for identifying the students’interests, aptitudes, and university preferences was used. The students (N = 1055) of three school semesters received information about the technical careers. 18% of the students changed their first choice of career and the change percentage on each of the evaluated semesters did not considerably fluctuate (18.44% - 18.95%). A validated hypothesis is that at the time of their entry, the students do not have enough information when choosing a career, since almost one of five students decides to change its original choice.
