On diferent occasions children are exhorted to read as part of punishment and not as a pleasurable activity, which pushes them away from this vital task. We order them to read, but we never show with out own attitude this “supposed love ” for texts. Behavior speaks for itself, and our little ones just copy patterns. While we watch TV we ask the child to read, but the child will only want to do our activity. Is it in our hands for children to become potential readers? Adults are key in the development of that process, we promote reading as a boring task or a pleasurable one, and we will make the diference. We have the responsibility to make our children immune to deceit and make them critics that can defend themselves from anything, beings that cannot be manipulated, with their own original criteria. A winner!
