SAYAGO QUINTANA, Zoraida B. Collaboration models between the university and primary schools. : implications for professional teacher teaching. Educere [online]. 2006, vol.10, n.33, pp.303-313. ISSN 1316-4910.

Since the 1990 ’s, the University of Los Andes, Táchira, the degree for Basic Education teaching began; in its curricular structure, the axis of Professional Training was set as an area of integrating knowledge and theoretic/practical confrontation. Since then, the university has established relations with primary schools to execute the pedagogical experiences of students and professors. With these relations as a base, this paper takes a closer look at how some of these collaboration models between both institutions and the implications of Professional Teacher Training, have developed. Supported on qualitative methodology, it uses observations, diaries and, most importantly, extensive interviews to key informants who are teachers, tutors, consultants, practicing subjects, university directors, and directors from two schools used as practice centers during a whole semester. The findings contribute elements that allow visualization of institutional relations as a way of academic alliances; and as such, the suggestion of creating learning communities, redimension the concept of Professional Training, rethink the role of the university in schools from the point of view of the enterprising university, to unite the networks of professional development schools and to rethink the bases of relationships from the resonant collaboration model.

Palavras-chave : university; primary education; professional training; collaboration models.
