Resumen

RENNOLA ALARCON, Leonardo. Multimedia program for teaching unitary operations: liquid-liquid absorption and extraction. Educere [online]. 2006, vol.10, n.33, pp.327-333. ISSN 1316-4910.

The inclusion of animations, photographs or a realistic video can activate the senses in a way that it widens the possibility of fixating more information in one class session. Sensorial perception can increase in 20%, if it is only auditive, up to 80% if an interactive element is included (Wolf, 1996). Understanding the importance of the use of computers as a helpful tool for teaching, a multimedia program was created, following the methodology explained by Dick and Carey in Fenrich (1997), that gathers in a systematic and organized way all the information on unitary operations on liquid-liquid absorption and extraction, basic in any chemical engineer ’s learning. Three computer packages were used: Visual Basic 6.0®, for the calculation programs, Flash 5.0®, to create the animations and Director 8.0®, to ensemble all the multimedia applications. The module was structured in a simple way with a pleasant interface so that the user could have easy and enjoyable access. The teaching module is expected to become a support tool for professors and students, contributing in this way to improving university education in Venezuela.

Palabras clave : education; multimedia; absorption; extraction.
