This article is the result of a research aimed at finding out what happens and how competency development for reflection and critical thinking are promoted in the curriculum for Primary Education at the Universidad de Los Andes, Táchira (CEBI, by its Spanish initials). A survey was given to the students in the 10th semester, as well as interviews, in order to understand and interpret how students learn to be reflexive critics and their importance in innovating teaching practices. Diferent courses of action are presented as a result of these surveys, these actions should improve the quality of training for future teachers at CEBI, Universidad de Los Andes Táchira.
