The educational and psychological attention of children who are hospitalized and their families reveals new sides of human and professional competencies that open a panorama for a practical-theoretical reflection within the framework of Hospital Pedagogy. This article shows the results of an experience with children who checked in at the Hospital Universitario de los Andes (Mérida- Venezuela), where the children and their families take part in the activities from the “Child Patient Manual. ” The benefits that conversation and drawing have on the health of children are discussed.
