GONZALEZ SILVA, Freddy. The asperger student: Understanding from the point of view of alterity. Educere [online]. 2006, vol.10, n.35, pp.611-620. ISSN 1316-4910.
Currently, asperger is considered mainly a syndrome requiring medical attention. Paradoxically, in Venezuela, children with this characteristic are, almost exclusively, inserted in regular education. Many of the cases can be found in classrooms, labeled in many inaccurate and irrelevant ways. This is why the objective of this study is to show the possibility of a necessary change within the education environment, regarding Asperger children in the Venezuelan context. This whole research aims to start from the models centered on clinical studies of the symptoms and the limitations in the adaptation abilities to a concept centered in its alterity. Likewise, key points are presented that may help to mold a new vision of children with this condition. Finally, it is thought that the attention models should center on the human being and in the active participation of the people around him/her. Within this consideration, new courses of action could be achieved.
