The following paper takes on the relevance of institutional evaluation and the certification and accreditation alternatives as a way to generate a high-quality educational system, understood as a system which involves and articulates programs, students and teachers. In particular, a reference is made to the certification and accreditation job performed in Mexico by the Higher Education Evaluation Interisntitutional Committee (CIEES), the Higher Education Accreditation council, (COPAES) and the job performed by the Educational Evaluation National Center, A.C (CENEVAL) on educational certification in several diferent areas
