FUENTES, Lorena; CALDERA, Yaxcelys e MENDOZA, Iván. Environmental education teaching from the intelligent approach. Educere [online]. 2007, vol.11, n.37, pp.307-314. ISSN 1316-4910.
Due to the situation humanity is facing regarding the increasing environmental deterioration; several organizations have proposed the inclusion of environmental education as a fundamental aspect in educational systems. This has been assumed by Venezuela in the current curricular design for the Second Stage Basic Education (High School). Environmental education teaching from an intelligent point of view needs to leave old schemes (mechanicism) and to approach a new structure of thought that facilitates the outcrop, verification and perfection of the internal images that each individual has about the environment and its preservation. The purpose of this research was to reveal the explicit elements of the intelligent approach in environmental education teaching during Second Stage Basic Education. This was a qualitative study with an ethnographic approach. The findings allowed establishing the prevalence of individual visions, mechanistic models and a fragmented vision of the curriculum, developing environmental education as a subject matter and not as a transverse axis
