Abstract

The following research was aimed to investigate the treatment and valuation teachers give to Reading in Spanish and Literature classes during the third stage of Basic Education. It is directed on the reflections about the act of reading and the literary text for the conceptual education of the individual and in the experiences of the educational actors in their interaction with the text in the learning environment. The research was directed under a qualitative-ethnographical conception, aiming to reach an idea that was as real as possible about what was studied from the observation techniques, interviews, recounting confronted with the philosophical and theoretical assumptions from specialists in the area of reading and teaching. The results allowed reaching the conclusion that there is a presence of two types of teachers (directive and generator) whose pedagogical direction towards reading is channelized towards a formal, conceptual approach leaving aside reading as pleasure.
