The goal of this research was to study the efects produced by the workshops of vocational maturity of students in the 1st year of High School. The sample was of 32 students from Coquivacoa High School (official institution) and Vicente Gerbasi and Santa María High Schools (private institutions), from Maracaibo Municipality during the school year 2004-2005. The theory used was Donald Super ’s, who posed vocational development as means to work on professional decision making. This is a pre-experimental research of one only group with pretest and posttest. Among the most important findings we highlight: the increase of vocational direction scores after the implementation of the workshops; the contribution workshops make to vocational orientation since they ofer students work tools that make it possible to deepen knowledge about themselves and their reality towards an early career choosing; the vocational orientation work established on a grouped level; the speeding of the exploratory process of each person and the role of the orientator as facilitator and assessor of the vocational orientation process.
