Abstract

It is necessary to pose the need that teenagers are supported by their parents in order to achieve a full and harmonious sexual development. The goal of this research was to stimulate reflection among parents about sexual knowledge, practices and attitudes to guide their children through learning about sexuality. The method of participative action-research allowed to state that parents in the community have deficient and deformed sexual information. It is concluded that there exists gender stereotypes, sexual disinformation and poor communication which has an effect on the proper handling of sexual conduct in teenagers. Programs based on active participation of parents on sexual health in teenagers must be designed.
