Abstract

PALADINES, Carlos. Chair traditional system and its self-improvement process. Educere [online]. 2008, vol.12, n.41, pp.379-386. ISSN 1316-4910.

The “Chair System”, with over a hundred years in the Latin American teaching tasks, was already criticized by the Cordoba Reform, but it still survives in our surroundings. The development of modern societies tends to inarticulate and dismantles this authoritarian hierarchical mechanism in which the teacher is the transmitter of the voice of power and the institution’s, meaning the dominating voice, and the speaker does not find room to express itself and to negotiate. In order to overcome the traditional teaching system some alternatives are stated as the total workshop, the group dynamics, the national chairs, the case methods, the productive units, the work teams, the modular approach, the situations simulation, the workshops and specially the area system.

Keywords : chair system; master class; area system.
