In this paper we tackle the examination of the implications it has for university autonomy the demands of accounting for actions from different perspectives and from of the statements of the educational reform of university education emerging in several countries, especially in Latin America and the Caribbean since the late 80’s in the 20ieth century. In correspondence to this purpose, we focus the attention on considering the following topics: i) The emergency of evaluating quality and accounting for actions in university education; and ii) accounting for actions and university autonomy.
