The Community Service Law for the Higher Education Student and the rules of the law for undergraduate students at the University of Los Andes is a reality that forces us as a university to put across to the community the results of studies and research done in the different schools at our faculties; for their application in the multiple areas (health, living, services, education, environment, culture, etc.) in which those same communities show operational and functional flaws. It constitutes as well a whistle-blower so everybody at the university look upon their communities, which they owe themselves to, in order to improve the quality of life of their inhabitants. The rules are written, the activities are clearly outlined, the responsibilities are perfectly defined, all is needed is to make the decision of doing something about it and doing it. We all take active part in the implementation of this commendable initiative; it is time to assume the challenge of turning Venezuela into a sociable and environmentally sustainable country. Let’s do it.
