Education in India today is a complex topic that reflects the contradictions of a millenary country that struggles to place itself among the greatest of the 21st Century. The controversial policy of education “reserves” in university education which pretends to give a preferential treat to the members of the lowers social classes is barely one of the edges of this paper, which seeks to gather the good and the bad regarding education by the government of the independent India, not forgetting the role played by the so-called Non Government Organizations (ONG, in Spanish) whose important performance is known by the author by direct experience.
